You Build an Asset — You Don’t Rent Traffic

Advertising gives you visitors today and stops tomorrow if you stop paying. SEO delivers after months, but it keeps delivering once you’ve paid for it.

That’s the only difference between the two channels that really matters, and everything else is detail. The first is a recurring operating cost, the second is an investment that compounds — a mature business needs both, but starts with one depending on its stage.

Which is why I always say: don’t start with SEO if you need customers next month. Start with ads and build SEO alongside until it matures — so your dependence on advertising falls rather than grows.

Traffic over time — at the same budget

The first three months are the hardest — you work and see little. Then the curve turns, because every page published keeps working and stacks on top of the last. This is an illustration of the principle, not a guaranteed result.

Four Pillars — and One Missing Collapses the Rest

Most people complaining that SEO doesn’t work are working on one pillar and ignoring three. Excellent content on a slow site never gets read; a fast site with no content never gets visited.

01

Technical SEO

The foundation a visitor never sees and Google reads first. A site it can’t crawl won’t rank however good the content is.

  • Load speed and page experience signals
  • Sitemap and crawl directives
  • Structured data and canonical URLs
  • Fixing indexing errors and duplicate pages
02

On-Page Optimisation

Translating searcher intent into a page that answers it. Most pages fail because they were written about the service rather than about the customer’s question.

  • Keyword research and intent analysis
  • Titles, meta descriptions and heading structure
  • Internal linking between related pages
  • Image optimisation and alt text
03

Content

The engine that actually brings traffic. Service pages alone reach a limited number; content widens your circle without a ceiling.

  • Articles targeting your customers’ real questions
  • Service pages built to convert, not to display
  • Refreshing old content instead of letting it age
  • Arabic and English, each written natively
04

Authority & Links

What others say about you weighs more than what you say about yourself. This is the slowest pillar and the hardest, with no safe shortcut.

  • Links from real, relevant websites
  • Local citations across UAE directories
  • Business profile and local signals
  • No bought links — the risk outweighs the gain

Six Workstreams — Running Monthly, Not Once

SEO isn’t a project that gets delivered and ends. It’s continuous work, because your competitors are working too and Google keeps changing its criteria.

Full Technical Audit

A complete inspection revealing what’s blocking your rankings: crawl errors, duplicate pages, slow loading, and anything never indexed at all.

Keyword Research & Mapping

The terms buyers actually search rather than the highest-volume, lowest-intent ones — mapped across your pages so they don’t compete with each other.

Optimising Existing Pages

Rewriting titles, descriptions, copy and heading structure — the fastest win, because you’re working on pages already indexed.

Speed & Performance

Compressing images, cleaning code and configuring caching, with real mobile measurement before and after the work.

Local SEO

Appearing in the local pack and on Google Maps — the fastest-returning part of SEO, in weeks rather than months.

Monthly Reporting

Rankings, traffic, winning pages and the customers who came from search — and with each report, the plan for the following month.

Five Myths Sold in the SEO Market

I’m writing these because most people who reach me have tried SEO before and came away disappointed — usually because of one of these promises.

“We’ll get you to number one within a month”
Nobody can guarantee rankings — not even Google. Real impact starts at three to six months, and anything faster means keywords nobody is competing for.
“We have a special relationship with Google”
There are no relationships, no connections and no rankings for sale. Anyone saying this is simply lying, and Google itself warns about it in its published guidelines.
“A thousand backlinks at a bargain price”
Links bought from link farms harm your site rather than help it, and can trigger a manual penalty that’s hard to recover from. Ten real links beat a thousand artificial ones.
“SEO is a one-time job that gets finished”
Your competitors work every month and Google keeps updating its criteria. An abandoned site declines gradually even when it has done nothing wrong.
“AI has made SEO unnecessary”
It has widened it. AI systems draw on the same published content, so whoever doesn’t appear in search doesn’t appear in them either — which is exactly what the Digital Maraya tool on this site measures.

What Happens Month by Month

What ends most SEO engagements is a wrong expectation in month two. Which is why I put the roadmap in front of you from day one.

Month 1

Audit & Foundation

Full inspection and fixing whatever blocks indexing. The least exciting month and the most important.

Written audit report Keyword map
Months 2–3

Execution & Content

Optimising existing pages and publishing the first new ones. Slight movement in rankings begins.

Optimised pages First ranking movement
Months 4–6

Visible Growth

Organic traffic starts climbing clearly, and the first enquiries arrive from search.

Traffic rising monthly Customers from search
Month 6+

Compounding

What was published earlier keeps working and its effect multiplies — this is where the real return begins.

Cost per customer falls Less reliance on ads

What To Expect — and When Each Matures

The rings below show how each outcome matures over time, not a guaranteed success rate.

1Month

Fully Indexed Site

Every important page seen by Google and crawlable without technical obstacles.

2–3Months

Ranking Movement

Keywords begin climbing and optimised pages surface in higher positions.

4–6Months

Traffic & Customers

Clear organic growth and enquiries reaching you from search at no cost per click.

6+Months

Compounding Return

What’s published keeps working, so cost per customer falls month after month.

Hands-On Experience Across Every Sector

Every sector has its own keywords and searcher intent — competitive sectors in Dubai need more patience but return more once they mature.

What Everyone Asks Before Starting

Straight answers with no overselling — if an answer puts you off, better now than six months into disappointment.

When will I actually see SEO results?
Real impact at three to six months in moderately competitive markets, and longer in crowded sectors like Dubai real estate. The local component is much faster — four to eight weeks. Which is why I don’t advise anyone to start with SEO alone if they need customers next month.
Do you guarantee first position?
No, and nobody can — Google itself warns against anyone offering that guarantee. What I guarantee is the work: a written audit, a clear plan, documented monthly execution and a report with numbers. Rankings are the outcome of work, not a promise for sale.
Is one or two months enough?
No. Six months is the minimum reasonable period, and a year is what shows the full effect. Anyone selling you two months of SEO is either misleading you or will hand you a pretty report with no result. I tell you this before signing, not after.
What if I stop after six months?
Your site doesn’t collapse overnight — a fundamental difference from advertising. What was built keeps working, but it declines gradually against competitors who continue. Most clients reduce the pace after maturity rather than stopping entirely, which is a reasonable choice.
Do you work in Arabic and English?
Yes, with separate keywords and pages for each language rather than translation. Search behaviour in Arabic differs fundamentally from English even in the same market — and Arabic is far less competitive, an opportunity many in Dubai overlook.
Is SEO still useful with AI around?
Yes, and its scope has widened. AI systems draw their answers from published, indexed content, so whatever doesn’t appear in search isn’t known to them either. Try Digital Maraya on this site to see how those systems describe you today.
